This week in Hereford Class

This week in Hereford Class we will be continuing our non-fiction journey of letter writing, linking it to the story of Meerkat Mail. We will be breaking down letters into small parts and writing them, understanding the structure.

In Maths, we are adding. Year 1 will be using number lines and mental strategies to add and Year 2 will be adding ones and tens to a two-digit number, also thinking about mental strategies.

We continue our Immersion Curriculum journey of Science - Electricity, where we will be diagnosing faults in electrical items, thinking about low batteries, water damage, wire damage, over heating and blown bulbs. We will begin to look at circuits and the different components, constructing our own class circuit. We will then, as a celebration, make a poster, showing all of our learning. We can then put our new Science Knowledge Organiser into our folders.

In RE, we continue to look at the five pillars of Islam and how they shape a Muslim beliefs and how they live their lives.

Parents' evening has been moved and will be now held on Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th November. Sign up sheets will be available after half term.

Don't forget Wednesday is WOW Wednesday where you can come into the classroom and share your child's work. We welcome you into the classroom at 8.45am - 9.30am. Please leave promptly so that we can begin our lessons. Please note, parents who have other children in Key Stage 2, Thrilling Thursday will be held on Thursday, due to other Key Stage 2 commitments. If you are not able to make these days, please get in touch and we can arrange another time for you to share our learning.

Polite reminder: If children bring home library books, please take care of them and ensure that they are in children's bags each morning ready for a visit to the library to swap them. Children are unable to take another book from the library until the previous one has been returned.
