Miss Cale

Miss Cale has been our Head since January 2015. She has been teaching for over 23 years and enjoys being involved in teaching and learning. Miss Cale enjoys playing and watching sport; she is a keen netball player and umpire.

Mrs Russell

Mrs Russell is our School Business Manager and joined us in September 2015.  She is part of the Paediatric First Aid Team and supports the health and safety of the children here at Amberley.  Mrs Russell has worked within schools for over 13 years and enjoys being at the forefront of the school, ensuring things run smoothly. Born and bred in Minchinhampton, she now lives in Nailsworth with her husband and three children.

Mrs Stevens

Mrs Stevens has worked at Amberley since 2016 and been a Teaching Assistant for 23 years, having previously had a career in banking.  She has worked in both KS1 and KS2 and enjoys the differing challenge that each stage offers.  Mrs Stevens jointly leads Phonics within the school and also carries out some of the school’s pastoral work and first aid cover.  When not working, she enjoys camping (the glamping variety) and anything equine (riding and watching).

Mrs Gravestock is our lunch time supervisor. She supports during Breakfast Club and lunch times and has a child in Belted Galloway Class.

Mr Beech

Paul Beech has been teaching for over 20 years, mainly in upper key stage 2. He is a maths specialist, and supports other schools through his role as a GLOS Ed Leader. Apart from maths, he is passionate about using novels within the classroom to enhance the children's learning. He leads maths and art at Amberley, and is a senior leader of the school.

Mrs Apew joined us in 2015. She is a teaching assistant in Friesian Class and works closely with all the children. Mrs Apew is a keen netball player.

Miss Rudge

Miss Rudge is our Friesian Class teacher and joined in September 2020.  We benefit from her enthusiasm, fresh ideas and as a keen baker, cakes!

Mrs Penn

Mrs Penn teaches in Dexter class in a jobshare with Mrs Crampton. She joined in 2019 to provide maternity cover and we are delighted that she has been able to continue working with us. Prior to teaching Dexter class, Mrs Penn worked as the Early Years Teacher at Amberley Playgroup and has also worked as an EYFS Lead Practitioner for the County. She enjoys spending time with her family and has two children. Mrs Penn loves playing netball, walking her two dogs and reading in her spare time.

Mrs Atherton

Mrs Atherton is the school lead for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. She has two children, who having been at Amberley School, have now moved on to secondary school. Prior to having children she worked as a teacher in primary schools in Gloucester.  Clare also continues in her role as a pre-school teacher at Amberley Playgroup.

Miss Holden

Miss Holden teaches our Year 1 and 2 children in Hereford class.  She is the school English subject leader and Head of Key Stage One. Miss Holden is an English specialist, and supports other schools through her role as a GLOS Ed Leader.

Mrs Norris

Mrs Norris joined us in 2014. She is the teaching assistant in Hereford class and works closely with all the children.  She is also heavily involved in Phonics here at Amberley and is one of the Phonics Leads.

Mrs Crampton

Mrs Crampton teaches in Dexter Class, as part of a job share with Mrs Penn. She has been teaching for over 20 years and joined us in February 2016 to work in Hereford class, before moving to teach in Dexter class and more recently, in Friesian class.  Mrs Crampton is responsible for RE, PSHCE, and Computing and is also a KS1 Moderator for the Local Authority. When she is not working, she spends her time out in the woods with Forest Schools, making paper cut pictures and spending time with her family.

Mrs A Smith

Alyson Smith has been a Teaching Assistant in Dexter Class for over 11 years. She also enjoys teaching Spanish to the KS2 children and has a keen interest in RE and worship within Amberley school.

Mrs Lury

Mrs Lury is a teaching assistant in both Dexter and Hereford Class and is also a lunchtime supervisor. She helps ensure the children are happy at lunchtime and play well together. Mrs Lury is extremely creative and loves sharing these skills with the children.

Mrs Cross

Mrs Cross is our lead lunchtime supervisor as well as Breakfast Club manager and Governor. She supports the children to eat their breakfast and lunch, and play well together in the playground.

Mr Spurrier

Mr Spurrier is a keen rugby player and joins our team from Atlas Sports, who are a specialist PE teaching team. Mr Spurrier teaches all classes in school throughout the week and also runs some of our after school PE clubs.

Mr Marsland

Mr Marsland joined the Amberley Family at the start of September 2019 and has immersed himself in the school.  We are fortunate to welcome Mr Marsland on Thursday afternoons when he also runs the after school club.  He enjoys keeping fit and travelling.
