Active Amberley
Here at Amberley, we are passionate about sport and physical activity. Our PE lessons are taught by specialist PE teachers and coaches from Atlas Sports, and we take part in a wide range of extra curricular sporting activities in order to support the physical and mental wellbeing of our children. There are also many opportunities for us to demonstrate our Christian values and use our learning powers when participating in these activities.
We also hold the Gold School Games Mark which we achieved for our dedication to providing excellent opportunities for our children.
Autumn Term 2023
I was proud to take a group of Year 5/6 and Year 3/4 children to represent Amberley at the Stroud Schools football tournament run by Atlas Games. Both teams performed really well and showed good cooperation and sporting behaviour. Special thanks goes to Luther who I appointed as captain of the Year 5/6 team. He carried out his role with real dedication and pride, leading the team to top their group. We came fourth overall and I am already looking forward to next year!
The Hereford Class children had a fantastic time at the KS1 Football Festival. We had two teams and all the children took part in some fun warm-up games before playing 7-a-side matches with rolling substitutions. It was brilliant to see them having so much fun and getting a real taste for team sport. James from Atlas has asked me to pass on his thanks to everyone who attended. Well done all! He also offers Kick-it football on a Thursday for 5-7 year olds, and on a Friday for 8-11 year olds. I know some of the children were very keen to join a club.
