Active Amberley

Here at Amberley, we are passionate about sport and physical activity. Our PE lessons are taught by specialist PE teachers and coaches from Atlas Sports, and we take part in a wide range of extra curricular sporting activities in order to support the physical and mental wellbeing of our children. There are also many opportunities for us to demonstrate our Christian values and use our learning powers when participating in these activities.

Please do let us know of any sporting achievements that you would like us to celebrate.

Summer Events and Sports Notice Board

Due to the ongoing problems that COVID has caused, our calendar of events has been significantly disrupted, However, we are hopeful that during the Summer terms we will have our Dodgeball event (and hopefully retain our title) and also the District Sports Track and Field events will return as well as our own school Sports Day and Fun Run. Please also see our PE page for a plan of what sports are covered in school lessons.

We have now launched our Sports notice board in school and must give our thanks to Louis and Alex, our FGR ambassadors, for organising this and also to the Friends of Amberley School who paid for it. I have already been inundated with children wanting to celebrate their achievements and inspire others so please keep them coming!

Sporting Achievements in our community

Please do let us know about all your achievements. We love to hear about your successes and celebrate them. As long as it involves being active then it can be absolutely anything. Below we have a selection ranging from tennis to urban kick boxing and everything in between!

As the rugby season draws to a close we have had some fantastic success in our local area and we are very proud to say that as well as many Amberley children completing a successful season we had two 'Player of the Year' awards for U6 and U8s categories and also the 'Respect' award. MInch RFC has children and adults from all over the Five Valleys area so we are immensely proud of our children for showing the ethos and values on the sports field in the wider community.

Congratulations on achieving your Level 1 equestrian certificate. In order to pass this level you had to canter without holding on-sounds nerve wracking and took courage!

Well done to our champion dancers. These siblings came first in a huge Street dance competition-that is an amazing trophy!

Also to this young dancer for passing her tap dancing exam and for her continued commitment to dance, taking part in competitions and festivals and achieving great success-Well done!

Congratulations on achieving a yellow belt in Urban Kickboxing. Another string to your bow!

This young lady in Y4 has been tearing up the tennis courts of Gloucestershire and beyond. It is lovely to see her going from strength to strength and achieving well deserved success. We are very proud of you.

FGR Ambassadors

Our Year 6 Forest Green Rovers Ambassadors for the 2021-2022 season are both in Year 6. They have been chosen to represent the values and ethos of FGR in their school and local community. They have already made a start in their role and we are looking forward to promoting their ideas in our school community.

Cross-Country

On Friday 12th November, the whole school took part in the Atlas Active Schools Network Cross-Country event. This took place in some very challenging weather conditions up on The Common and pretty much the only thing we didn't have was snow! It was great to see the children really throwing themselves into the competition and even our Dexter children made it around the 1km course with big smiles on their faces. We will be announcing the winners in KS1 and KS2 once we have the results in from Atlas. Well done to every single child who took part for showing their learning powers of challenge and never giving up.
