This week in Hereford Class

This week in RE we will be learning about the Prophet Muhammad and why he is important to Muslims.

In English we will be retelling the story of The Tiger Who Came To Tea in our own words, breaking it down into parts: Year 1 - beginning, middle and end and Year 2 - opening, build up, problem, resolution and ending.

In Maths, we continue with our journey of place value where Year 1 are comparing numbers using the more than, less than and equals sign, whilst Year 2 represent numbers to 100 using dienes, partitioning numbers in several ways.

Last week, Year 2 started a new topic on, 'Explorers' where they learned about Neil Armstrong and his landing on the moon in 1969. As Year 1 will be joining us this week, following their transition, Year 2 will teach them about Neil Armstrong, using their learning, books and knowledge organisers. We will then move onto learning about Christopher Columbus and Tim Berners Lee and why they are famous.

The phonics evening is being held this Wednesday 28th September at 5.30pm. It is a fantastic learning opportunity for all parents, particularly Year 1 parents as we will be explaining how phonics is taught and how you can successfully support your child with their reading at home. Please attend if you can. If you are unable to, and would like copies of the presentation we will be sharing, please let me know.
