This week in Hereford Class

This week in Hereford Class we will be starting a brand new Amberley Immersion Curriculum topic. We will be spending the next two weeks completing printing in art. We will be looking at Beatriz Milhazes, who is a Brazilian artist and uses the natural world to inspire her artwork. We will be mimicking items from the environment and Mrs Hamilton has taken a trip to B&Q to find samples of wallpaper as we will be designing our very own. We will use different objects to make prints including: vegetables, polystyrene, cardboard and string. For our final piece we will be overlapping prints, framing it and bringing it hope to celebrate!

In English, we are writing letters. We are imagining we have jumped onto a plane and flown 12 hours to South America. We will be writing letters home to our friends and family detailing our travels in Brazil. We will be mind mining moles and using our knowledge of Brazil to recall and describe what we have seen.

In Maths, we are partway through our multiplication journey. Year 2 are being introduced to the multiplication symbol and will be using equal groups to calculate repeated addition and multiplication as well as further problem solving activities. Year 1 are moving onto counting in 5s, after learning to count in 2s and 10s. Practise of this at home would be really beneficial, including counting back.

In RE, we will be looking at Christians beliefs about how God would wants people to all to forgive, how we should say sorry and forgive one another.

A reminder that all children are involved in the iSingPOP concert on Wednesday at the church. There will be two performances, one at 2pm and the other at 6pm. We will not be distributing tickets for this but we ask you to please bring a maximum of 2 adults per children to the evening performance due to the church capacity. The afternoon performance is likely to be quieter, so please attend this time if possible. Please refer to the Amberley News regarding information around drop off/pick up and brightly coloured t-shirts.
