This week in Hereford

Welcome back! It has been great to see all of the children once again!

It was lovely to see all of Y2 returning with smiles on their faces, bouncing into the classroom ready for the new term. It was also lovely to welcome Y1 into the classroom. It can be a worrying time, changing teacher and environment but they have been absolutely fantastic - they have transitioned well into the new routines and expectations and these will continue to be established over the next few weeks.

Y1 children will be given the opportunity to visit Dexter classroom in the afternoons for the next two weeks to help with their transition into Key Stage One.

All lessons will begin this week including: phonics, spelling, writing, reading and maths and I'm sure the children will have lots to tell you as they start learning new skills, knowledge and vocabulary!

Year 2 will be studying Japan in Geography this week. We are linking this to the Paralympics and studying key knowledge about the country, including capital city, landmarks, coastal and rural areas as well as cities, towns and villages. Please remember that the overview is placed on the class page each week. Please do look at this in order to see what is happening in our Immersion Curriculum and the skills the children will be taught. This is also attached to this BLOG post.

In RE we will be looking at the Harvest which links in with our topic of 'Who Do Christians Believe Made The World?' We will be discussing the Christian beliefs whilst celebrating Harvest and how lucky we are!

You should have received my Autumn letter today. This gives lots of information about Hereford life so please take time to read it. You will also have received the Home-School Behaviour agreement. This was sent out Friday. Please sign, ask your child to print their name and return the agreement to school as soon as possible.

I will be present on the playgrounds most mornings and afternoons so please do talk to me if you have any questions. Alternatively, you should all now have my email and I am happy to receive any queries or concerns via this method. Please don't hesitate to be in touch should you need to!
