This Week in Friesian Class

Welcome back! We do hope that you have all had a good break.

This week, we will be looking at both haikus and kennings in our English lessons, and creating our own poetry. We will also be celebrating World Book Day on Wednesday by taking part in a special book themed Gecko!

In maths, will be consolidating our learning on multiplication and division, and will, throughout the week, use all four operations to develop our memory retrieval of formal calculations.

In RE, we will be considering this term's Christian value of Compassion, and will be making links between this and the core values of other world views.

In our Amberley Immersion Curriculum time this week, we will become artists, and will study some of the works of Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita, a Dutch artist who used intriguing mark making techniques. We will then focus on using pencil shading to show light and shadow, and hatching and cross hatching to show tone and texture as we create our own art work. We are so lucky to have such budding artists in school - many of whom recently had work displayed at the local Three Storeys exhibition in Nailsworth. It was wonderful to recognise so many names among the entrants, and be able to celebrate their creativity.

In computing, we will be focusing on privacy and security during our session on online safety, where we will look at how connected devices can collect and share anyone’s information with others, and at strategies for keeping passwords and personal information private.
