This week in Friesian Class

Welcome back for another term! I hope you enjoyed a restful and enjoyable half term.

This week the children will be starting their new RE unit by focusing on our new Christian value of the term: Forgiveness. We will be retelling the story of Zacchaeus the Tax Collector and thinking about how forgiveness affects ourselves, our community and our wider world.

In maths, we will be continuing our work on fractions. The Y4's will be working with Miss Rudge and Mrs Stevens to add fractions together, as well as building their rapid recall of times tables. In English, we will be starting a new writing unit of Autobiographies. The children will be finding the features, boxing up, comprehending and writing the introductions.

In Immersion Curriculum, we are geographers and we will be investigating rivers and linking this to the water cycle.

Reading books will be changed on Tuesday this week due to the INSET day on Monday. If your child has not finished their books by Thursday (the next day of book change), we will change them again on the following Monday.

An email was send out with a letter attachment for a Cross Country Event at Stratford Park, Stratford Road, Stroud GL5 4AF on Wednesday 2nd March 2022. This event is competitive and aimed at competent runners over a distance of 1 mile.

You will need to arrive by 3:45pm to register if you wish to take part. Please make your own transport arrangements for your child/children. The first race will start at 4:15pm and the event concludes at approximately 6:00pm. Mrs Penn will be attending the event and will supervise the children although you are welcome to remain and spectate. If you are not remaining on site, you will need to leave a contact number with Mrs Penn and return to collect at 6pm.

School PE kit should be worn, this includes a hoody but your child will also need a coat and possibly extra warm layers as they will be outside for the duration.

If you would like your child/children to take part, please sign the consent form attached in the email and return it to the school office as soon as possible. Atlas Games Active Schools Network will be hosting the event and a full risk assessment has been carried out.

Alternatively, please send me an email indicating your child's interest and I will pass this on to Mrs Penn.

As always, if you have any questions, please email me.

See you on the school gates!

Miss Rudge
