This week in Friesian Class...

This week in Friesian Class we are delighted to have Mrs Stevens back with us after she enjoyed a week at PGL with Belted Galloway.

In English this week, will be writing the parts of our traditional tale: Little Red Riding Hood. Today we started with the opening and throughout the week we will be writing the build up, problem, resolution and ending. In maths, we are finishing off our Place Value topic in maths by thinking about 1, 10, 100 and 1000 more or less than any given numbers. The children have enjoyed working on reasoning problems involving this. This knowledge will help us to recognise and plot numbers on a number line later on in the week.

In RE, we will be continuing to think about what Christians learn from the creation story by understanding the story of 'The Fall' and understand how Christians use this to explain why things go wrong in the world.

In Immersion Curriculum, we are scientists. Today, we have been recognising common appliances that are powered by mains electricity and batteries. We have been starting to make complete circuits and drawing these using the correct symbols. Throughout the week, we will continue to build our knowledge on making complete circuits, adding in switches and recognising if a circuit will work or not depending on if it is complete. You will find the topic map for this on the class page.

As always, please can I remind parents to read as often as they can with the children and record this in their reading record. Spelling homework is sent home every Monday and needs to be completed and handed back in on Friday, ready for the weekly spelling test. Spelling homework helps the children to revise the spelling rule that is being taught during lessons that week, as well as practising the spellings of the National Curriculum words (Jumping Orange Words).

Harvest Festival is fast approaching and you will be receiving a letter about Harvest Assembly and the Harvest Church Service, as well as the collection of goods.

If you have any questions, please email me via the website.

Miss Rudge
