This Week in Friesian Class

Welcome back! We hope that you all had a lovely half term and are feeling ready for the next term!

This week, we will be starting a new writing journey in English, which will focus on journey stories, using Kensuke's Kingdom as our inspiration. The children have enjoyed reading the book so far, and will now move towards developing their abilities to create tension and use effective description in their writing.

In maths, we will start the week with a recap on our work using formal written calculations for division, and will then move on to solving problems involving scaling (3 times as many etc) and correspondence (using multiplication to work out the number of possible combinations of sets of items).

In RE, the children will explore the Christian value of forgiveness and will make links between different Bible stories that centre around this theme, as well as how forgiveness is a core belief of many other world views and religions.

In our Immersion Curriculum time, we will be continuing our work as geographers as we focus in on the UK. We will explore maps to find different cities and counties, and will investigate how places change over time, making links back to our work on the Romans in Britain from earlier in the year.

Well done to all those who managed additional work on their times tables and division over half term, and those who continued to read- it all helps!

On Wednesday, please don't forget that those involved in the cross country festival during the afternoon will need to come to school in their PE kit to school and bring a packed lunch (we will eat before we leave) a water bottle and snack, warm and waterproof coat and a change of shoes as they will get muddy.
