This Week in Friesian Class

Happy New Year! Welcome back! We all hope that you have had a fantastic holiday and managed to get a break admit the festivities and the rain!

This week, in RE, the children will be reflecting on our new value: Trust.

In maths, we will all be focused on multiplication and division, and will be recapping the formal methods for all four operations that we have learned so far. Please do encourage you children to practise their times tables at home, particularly year 4, who should be sending me screen shots of their work on Maths Frame each week.

I have created a list of maths based games and websites that your child might enjoy which you can find on the class webpage or at the bottom of this post.

In English, we will be starting a new writing journey based on The Tunnel, a short story by Pie Corbett. It focuses on an evacuee child who was sent to the area during the Second World War.

In our immersion curriculum time, we will be working as scientists for the next two weeks as we investigate animals (including humans). We are hoping that you will be able to join us after school on Thursday 18th to take part in our bone quiz!

We are hoping to be able to take a trip to the Guardianship on Tuesday this week, as part of our work in science, and would be grateful if you could please send in a pair of wellies that day, and ensure that your child has a coat.

In preparation for our next art week, we are asking for colourful magazines that we can use to collage. I would be really grateful if you could send in any old magazines at anytime over the next two week, please.

Thank you all so very much for all your kind words and generous gifts at the end of term. We were both hugely touched.
