This Week in Dexter Class
Welcome back! We hope that you have had a peaceful half term break and that you have managed to enjoy the Jubilee festivities despite the weather!
This week in Dexter class, we will be learning about the Christian value of Courage, and will hear the story of David and Goliath and talk about how Christians believe that God gives them the strength they need to be courageous.
In maths, we will be focusing on sharing into equal groups; a starting place for understanding division. We will discuss which groups of objects can be shared equally and which can't, and will look at how the number of groups we are sharing between can alter whether the same number of objects can be distributed evenly.
In phonics, we will be learning the alternative spellings of the sounds oy, ir and ue, as well as focusing on our ability to read and spell high frequency and tricky words. Please don't forget to help you child to practice the words that they have on their individual cards, as the additional practice will help your child's confidence when reading and writing independently.
After a particular interest was shown for superheroes at the end of last term, we will be reading 'SuperTato' by Sue Hendra this week - don't be alarmed if some of your supper time vegetables need rescuing from the evil peas!
We are hoping to welly walk on Wednesday.
