This week in Dexter Class
This week, the children are staying for lunch and will need to be collected at 1.30pm. Please could you have a look at the menu with your child, so that they know what to chose when they come into school.
We will be continuing our work in phonics, throughout the week, learning new sounds and how to write them. Each time a new sound is taught, your child will receive a sheet to continue practice at home. On a Thursday, they will be given new sounds for their phonics pot so that they can practice forming the words on their weekly word list. Continuing this work at home is hugely beneficial to your child's retention of learning, so we are grateful for your support. Please look out for a letter, coming home this week, regarding our phonics curriculum evening, where we will be providing more information about how we teach children to read and write, and how you can support their learning at home.
In Literacy, we will be reading 'All Are Welcome Here', by Alexandra Penfold and Suzanne Kaufman, and 'What Makes Me Me?' by Ben Faulks, and using these books as a starting point for discussion about how wonderfully diverse we all are and how we welcome everyone to our school community. This work also links to our RE lesson this week, where we will be hearing the Parable of the Lost Coin, and talking about how precious we all are to God.
On Friday, in a change to our Autumn letter, please could your child come into school in their PE kit. They will then remain in this kit all day. There is no longer a need to have PE kit in school, and there is no need to send uniform in on a Friday to change into. The children have shown that they are very able when it comes to dressing themselves, and with this alteration, they are able to have more time in their PE lesson.
We will be sending home details for School Money as soon as we are able and apologise for the delay.
