This Week in Dexter Class

This week in Dexter class, we will be visiting Cotswold Wildlife Park and Holy Trinity church. Our church trip will be focusing on the key features of a place of Christian worship, such as a lectern, pews, candles, alter and the use of crosses. We will be talking about how we feel inside a church and how, as a holy place, we need to treat it with respect.

In phonics, we will be consolidating our understanding of the trickier digraphs in Mrs Crampton and Mrs Penn's group, and learning the alternative graphemes of oy and er in Mrs Lury and Mrs Smith's group.

In maths, we will be developing our problem solving skills whilst continuing our work on grouping and sharing equally.

On Tuesday, we will be visiting Cotswold Wildlife Park, where we will be be having a talk about rainforests, and visiting and learning about the animals around the park. Please make sure that your child has a packed lunch in a suitable bag that they are able to carry, and clothing (uniform) and shoes appropriate for the weather.

In English, we will be reading The Ugly Five by Julia Donaldson and will be learning the names and characteristics of the less well known creatures that are featured. We will also be recounting our trip to the wildlife park and developing our clarity when speaking a narrative.
