This Week in Dexter Class

This week in Dexter class, we will be learning digraphs in our phonics lessons. This is the term used for two letters which, together, make one sound. We will be learning qu, sh, ch and th, as well as improving our sight reading of the tricky and HFW she, seem are, you, they.

In our literacy lessons, we will be reading 'Stick Man' by Julia Donaldson and will be creating word mats and story maps, sequencing and writing captions and simple sentences. We will also read a linked book ,'I am not a Stick' by Antoinette Portis, and using our imaginations to think what a stick might be used for, before drawing and writing about our ideas.

In maths, we will be developing our understanding of zero and looking at the different ways that a number can be made up (2+3=5, 4+1=5, 0+5=5 etc), so as to become more fluent with our recall of number bonds.

In RE, we will be discussing what is precious to us and reflecting on how God sent His son, Jesus, as a precious gift. We will use the analogy of a clover leaf to begin to understand the Trinity and how God came to Earth in human form as Jesus.

Sadly we will not be able to welly walk this week, but hope to be out making giant stick men next week!
