This week in Dexter class
I really enjoyed meeting with so many of you to discuss the progress that your children are making in school. They have all settled so well and seem to be thriving even though some have succumbed to nasty bugs and winter colds!
This week, Dexter class will be continuing on their journey into story writing by looking at how we describe the main setting, characters, dilemmas and solutions. We will be following on from our work last week where we talked about what superpowers we would like to have and how we could use them to help serve other people. The children will also be linking their learning to Maths by using a dice to select characters, props etc. Children will be building speed at recognising numerals and symbols on the dice.
Also in Maths, we are continuing to 'feed' our hungry robots Roberta and Robert to make a given number between 1 and 5, and using the language of add, subtract and equals. Our phonics learning will continue with a recap of Phase 2 and we will be looking at short sentences that children can use in their own writing.
Don't forget the school disco tonight, for our reception children this will run from 5:30pm-6:30 pm, £3 to include a drink and a snack.
