This week in Dexter Class

This week. we will be focusing on the the composition of numbers to 5 in maths, and working on recalling the different addition and subtraction facts that are associated with each number.

In phonics, we will be learning the sounds nk, ai, and ee, and will be learning to read the tricky and high frequency words this, that, them, then, and with, and practising our spelling of the tricky words I, so, no, go, to, and, and the.

We are very excited to be going to Gloucester Cathedral on Wednesday, and would request that children are all at school promptly, so that we can leave on time. The information regarding the need for packed lunches etc is all on the letter that was sent home - a copy of which is on the class webpage.

Our RE work will take into account our visit to the cathedral, and we will look at the importance of the Nativity to Christian belief, and the understanding of the incarnation.

In literacy, language and communication, we will be looking at a variety of letters and will pick out the key features, before writing our own. We will be thinking about our audience (in the first instance, the children of Amberley School in New Zealand), what information should be included and how to format the text.

We hope to welly walk on Tuesday morning, when we will learn about hibernation, and will make our own hedgehogs from natural materials, find them a suitable place to see out the winter and then help them nestle down!
