This week in Belted Galloway class

This week we are excited (and quite nervous if truth be told!) to be sharing our presentations for the oracy contest. All children will be completing a 2 minute presentation to the class on a topic of their choosing, and by doing this they will need to practice, prepare, research and rehearse their topics prior to, in many cases, facing their fears and getting up in front of the class and presenting. I am really proud of the way so many of the children have approached this block of work: I believe it will help foster important skills that will support them well through the later stages of their education.

We will be completing our block of poetry this week when we complete the book Love That Dog by Sharon Creech and where the children will have the chance to edit and publish which poem they are most proud of. Some wonderfully touching poetry has been written this week and the children have really got into the topic. Similarly, we will be finishing our Guided Reading novel, Twitch by MG Leonard, this week, which has really captured the children's attention and inspired them.
