This Week in Belted Galloway Class

This week we will be completing our English work on Flashback narrative, moving on from writing inspired by the animation The Piano to the children exercising their creativity and designing their own context for a flashback story. We are also starting a new book, called The Nowhere Emporium, which looks to really engage the children if their reaction to the first chapter is anything to go by! We will also be completing our Science block of work on Grouping and Classifying Animals, spending time this week using different sorting diagrams to classify the animals, and also exploring animals that don't easily fit into the mix like the duck-billed platypus. Maths will centre around the place value skills of rounding, understanding negative numbers and the order of operations, BIDMAS (which you may well remember as BODMAS, but we use the former, with the I standing for indices or powers).
