Sporting Success

Amberley prides itself on the enthusiasm of our pupils for competitive sport both representing the school and their clubs in the wider community. Here are just a few! The year 3 and 4 children took part in the Stroud district Cross Country event and performed really well. I am now pleased to say that their points have been combined with the Year 5 and 6 pupils and Amberley came third overall for both Cross country events. This included both large and small schools and is a brilliant achievement.

Immy has represented Gloucestershire in the Regional Final of the Sportshall UK Championships. This is a multidiscipline event including javelin, standing long jump and running. What an achievement!

Arianne and Flo have finished their hockey season and brought their U11s and U10s girls player of the year awards in so we could celebrate their success. They are outstanding ambassadors for the school and also for Stroud Hockey Club. Well done to both of you!

Keeping it in the family-Luther(Year 5) and Axel (Year 2) both came first in the Mini Minch Race in the Under 10 and Under 7 categories. The Mini Minch is for 7-15yrs , and consists of a 2 lap run on the Common (approx 2km) with straw bales and wooden log obstacles to add to the challenge. There is no stopping these boys!

Events coming up for school soon include the Dodgeball tournament, tennis competition, District Sports Track and Field event and a Dance Festival. Details will be provided when we have them.

There are also lots of opportunities to get involved in physical activity in lour local community and I know that there is something that everyone will enjoy so keep telling us about your successes.
