ECO CLUB - CALLING ALL PARENTS

Eco-club are currently working towards winning the School it’s first ‘Eco-Schools Green Flag award’ - www.eco-schools.org.uk

The children often say they’d like share some of the activities with grown-ups. If you’re a parent or carer and can spare an hour after School on Tuesdays, we love to have you come and join us.

It’s fun and rewarding to see how much the children already know, and how much they care. It’s also a good way to meet other parents and get closer to the School.

CAN YOU HELP?

At Eco-club we learn about global issues such as climate crisis, we look at local species and how to identify them, we go outside and plant vegetables, and we use virtual reality to learn about animals their habitats. We’re currently creating our Green Flag ‘Eco-board’ for School, and with the help of the wider School community would like to build a greenhouse made from re-cycled plastic bottles.

At Eco-club we’re currently looking into the idea of building a greenhouse made from

re-cycled plastic bottles.

The children enjoy growing plants and are keen to have an area to grow vegetables and insect friendly flowers at School.

When we discovered a way for the children to be able to do this, whilst also putting their recycling skills to good use, we felt this was the perfect project to take on, but we need a little help please.

WE NEED:

LOTS of 2 litre used clear plastic bottles

• Long bamboo canes

• Recycled timber to use for the frame

• Parental assistance for the build (date: TBC)

• Left over PEAT FREE compost

• Seed and plant donations
