This week in Hereford

Welcome back to Spring Term 2. I hope that you have all had a restful and enjoyable break.

This week we will explore our new value of compassion and look at the Christian story of 'The Good Samaritan'. We will think about ways that we show compassion and how this helps us to be good people, friends and members of the community.

In maths we will continue with our fractions topic; however, we will be looking at finding fractions of number and objects, by dividing by the denominator. Y2 children will also be using their knowledge of finding 1/4 to find 3/4 by multiplying their answer by the numerator.

We will begin a new English topic on story - based on 'The tiger who came for tea.' We will learn the story and then use the structure to retell it, followed by the innovation process where we will change it to write our own stories.

We have a new student teacher, Miss Griffiths, joining us for this term. She has previously taught at Minchinhampton school in Y3/4 and is looking forward to working with the wonderful children in Hereford Class. Miss Griffiths will begin teaching lessons with the support from myself as the weeks progress.

Parents' evenings are WC 25th March on the Wednesday and Thursday but if you have any questions or queries before this time, please remember you can contact me via the Hereford class page.
