This week in Dexter Class

This week in Dexter class, we will be learning the sounds igh, ur, ow and oi with Mrs Crampton and Mrs Smith's group and ear, er and air in Mrs Smith and Mrs Lury's group. We will be putting our phonic knowledge into practice throughout the week as we make signs, write sentences and even make our own books. We are continuing to learn about Kenya as part of our work based on Handa's Surprise and will also be learning about Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated. In maths, we will be continuing our work on measurement and will be learning about weighing, trying different ways to measure how heavy things are, making comparisons and solving problems.

We have already heard from one of our focus children who bought in a hose from the fire service and showed us exciting pictures of how old hoses can be recycled. We will have to put on our thinking caps to see what we can turn ours into!
