This Week in Dexter Class

This week, we will be learning to read and write the sounds j, v, w and x, and the tricky words we, me, be and he. We will be continuing to consolidate our abilities to blend and segment words for reading and writing and will be trying to apply our skills to reading and writing during our own play.

In RE, we will be learning about how people show their love for one another, and will be learning about the Hindu and Sikh festival of Raksha Bandhan.

In maths, we will be developing our understanding of the concept of number and how the numbers to four are composed of smaller parts. We will be experimenting with recording this using + and = signs. We will be looking at different representations of the number 4 and using 3 and 4 sided shapes to create pictures.

In Literacy, communication and language, we will be reading We Planted a Pumpkin, by Rob Ramsden and will be taking part in a number of activities linked to the book.

The children have had a fabulous start to their school life and have made so much progress already. We look forward to welcoming you into school on Wednesday morning, so that you can see some of what they have been up to!
