This week in Dexter Class
Welcome back! Happy New Year!
This week in Dexter class, we will be looking at precious items and special books during our RE lesson, in order to better understand why some things have more emotional value to us than others. In English, we will be reading 'Six Dinner Sid' by Inga Moore, and will be creating word mats and story maps and writing simple sentences and captions linked to the story. In phonics, we will be focusing on the graphemes nk, ai, and ee and learning the tricky and HFWs 'they, them, then, that, this, with,' and reviewing the ones we have found it harder to recall, such as 'are'.
In maths, we will be reminding ourselves of ways to make 5, before learning about the numbers six and seven. This links well to our story and we will be creating a street with odd and even numbers, just like the street Sid lives on. We will also investigate six and seven sided shapes and will record simple number sentences using + - and =.
We will be welly walking on Tuesday, and investigating 6 legged creatures, so please make sure that your child has suitably warm waterproof clothing and wellies.
We look forward to catching up with you all soon, and hope that you have had a good break.
