This Week in Dexter Class
This week, we will be continuing our work on the Christmas Story in RE. We will be thinking about why Christmas is important to Christians, and how many Christians believe that Jesus was sent as a gift for the people of Earth, because of how precious God considers them. We will think about the things that are precious to us and how people of other faiths will have things that are precious to them and sacred to their belief too.
In maths, we will be looking at number bonds to 5 and will be experimenting with recording simple addition and subtraction number sentences.
In phonics, we will be learning the sounds oa, oo (zoo), oo (look) and igh, and will be learning to read the words all and look, and practising writing the words and, the, no, go, to and so. The children each have a tricky and high frequency word book mark in their bags. It would be hugely beneficial to look at these when you are reading together, to encourage them to spot the words and read them from memory.
In literacy, language and communication, we will be reading Julia Donaldson's, 'Stick man' and will be creating word mats to support our writing and story maps for retelling. We will also look at the different parts of the story and practise our reading and writing skills by matching captions and writing short sentences related to the story.
We hope to welly walk on Tuesday.
