This Week in Dexter Class

In phonics, we will be

In RE, we will be learning about the Christian Value of Truthfulness and will hear the Bible stories related to Peter's difficulty in telling the truth in, 'The Day the Changed Everything'. We will think about the times when we have struggled with telling the truth and how we might be able to use the Parable of the Sower to help show others how to do the right thing. We will talk about the quote from Ephesians, 'Speak the truth in love'.

In phonics, we will be starting phase 3 of our programme and will be learning the sounds j, v, w and x. We will be learning to read the high frequency words me, he, we and be, and will be revising the spelling of HFWs from our previous learning in phase 2.

In literacy, language and communication, we will be reading 'Dipal's Diwali' and 'The Best Diwali Ever' by Sonali Shah, and will be learning about the Hindu and Sikh festival of lights that was celebrated during half term. We will use our knowledge of the stories to create story maps and order events. We will also learn more about the traditions of Diwali throughout the week, as we explore rangoli patterns, traditional dress and festival celebrations.

We will not be welly walking this week, but will resume next Tuesday.
