This week in Dexter Class

This week in Dexter class we are learning the sounds oo (long as in zoo and short as in book) ar and or in Mrs Crampton and Mrs Smith's group, and the sounds ur, ow and oi in Mrs Smith and Mrs Lury's group.

We will, as always, be applying this phonetic knowledge in our own writing of stories, signs and captions.

In maths, we are continuing to learn about measurement and will be focusing on capacity.

Last week we had great fun trying lots of different fruits, in an activity inspired by Handa's Surprise. This week, we will be finding out about different houses in Kenya and making comparisons and noting differences to the houses near here.

We have already had some interesting ideas for our learning through the interests of our focus children and look forward to finding out more about different animals, where they live and how they survive.

The weather is forecast to be very cold this week. Please make sure that your child is well equipped to play outside whatever the weather. If you would like to come and check wellies still fit properly, please feel free.
