This Week in Dexter Class

This week in Dexter class, we will be focusing on the importance of respect when handling sacred texts, and will learn about the Quran, and discuss the similarities and differences between the three sacred texts we have learned about so far.

In literacy, language and communication, we will be reading Jasper's Beanstalk and using the text to order the days of the week and discuss plant growth. We will be keeping a close eye on our own beans to see if they start to sprout too!

In maths, we will be investigating the number 8 and will be looking at different ways to make and partition 8. We will also meet Octoblock, from the BBC's Numberblocks, and will help him to solve some problems. Towards the end of the week, we will be looking at counting on to add, and will be using track games such as snakes and ladders to embed our understanding.

In phonics, we will be consolidating our learning so far, and will be refocusing on some of the trickier digraphs, as well as spotting digraphs in longer words.

We hope to welly walk on Tuesday this week, so please make sure your child has a warm hat and coat to brave the chill!
