This Week in Dexter Class
This week in Dexter class, we will be continuing with our work centred around Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. The children will be using their phonic knowledge to create maps of the island, write book reviews and writing about their own dreams, among other activities.
In phonics, we will be revisiting the graphemes which have been identified as the most troublesome to recall and using these sounds to write words and captions with three consonant letter strings.
In maths, we will be looking at the make up of numbers between 10 and 20, and developing our understanding of place value. We will also be looking at ordering numbers and using our counting skills to identify missing numbers.
In RE, we will be learning about the Christian Creation story and discussing the many wild and wonderful creatures found on God's earth.
Throughout the week, we will, of course, be applying our knowledge and understanding within numerous continuous provision activities, where children are given opportunities to work collaboratively and develop important social skills.
