This Week in Friesian Class

This week, we will be continuing our work as scientists in our immersion curriculum time, and will be learning about the formation of fossils, bedrock and the composition of different soils. The children have all been really engaged in our work so far, and have thoroughly enjoyed a series of experiments and investigations with different rock types. Several children have asked if they may bring in fossils which they have at home. This would be lovely, but I would like to ask that they are in containers that are clearly labelled with the children's names, so that they are not muddled up, please!

In maths, Year 4 will be learning about fractions of amounts, and Year 3 will be continuing with their work on time.

In English, we will be starting a new writing journey as we focus on explanation texts. This will also be a taster to our upcoming work on the Ancient Egyptians, as our work will be based on Egyptian religion and beliefs, the pyramids, and mummification!

Please remember that Thursday 27th April 2023 is a teachers' strike day and therefore Friesian Class will be closed for the day along with Hereford and Belted Galloway. Dexter class remains open. We are very grateful for your support and have really appreciated your positive messages about the strike, despite the inconvenience it causes.

Clubs start again next week and I will be running and computing club every Monday from 3.15pm to 4.15pm. All children are welcome. Other clubs are also available and Mrs Russell has sent these choices home, please sign up and return the slips as soon as possible.

We look forward to seeing you all at the Cow Hunt over the weekend - fingers crossed for dry weather!
