This week in Hereford Class

Welcome back to Summer 2. I hope you all had a relaxing half term and enjoyed spending time with your families. I can't believe we are in the final term, the weeks have flown by but I am exciting to report on all of your children's progress this term.

This week we are introducing our new Christian value of 'Respect'. We will be exploring this value whilst looking at the Bible story of 'Moses and The Burning Bush.' We will be looking at how the value is reflected in this story as well as how we can show respect in our lives, to make us great human beings.

In English we are re-telling the story of Pumpkin Soup, which we started exploring last term. We will be using the boxed up version to help re-tell it in our own, creative ways.

In Maths, as we have already looked at interpreting pictograms, we are now looking at data and using this data to create our own. We will be using a key to show what each picture represents.

In Science we are looking at electrical circuits and we will creating our own circuits using symbols to represent the battery, bulb and buzzer.

In computing, we will be using all that we have researched about India to create our very own power points which we will deliver to the rest of the class (once completely finished!)

Y1 will have their phonic screening next week. We will decide on the day and time to ensure that it provides every child with the best opportunity to show what they know. We know that each of them will make us incredibly proud. Please continue to read with your children to reinforce the sounds that they will come across during the screening.

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Y2 children, who completed some quizzes towards the end of Y2. Each of them performed fantastically and I'm incredibly proud of all of them.
