This Week in Belted Galloway class

This week, the final week before a well-earned half term break, is a very busy one in Belted Galloway class. In English, the children will be completing their entries for the Rotary Club Young Writers competition. The are required to take full control of their writing, from planning and drafting through to editing and presenting. It is a really good opportunity for the children to write for a purpose with the knowledge that somebody they don't know will read their work. In maths, the children will complete their work on indices, and are looking forward to our GECKO problem solving challenge at the end of the week. They will also have the chance to show what they have learnt over the past eight weeks in our end of term assessment. The children are encouraged to take ownership of their learning in these assessment tasks, flagging up things they don't understand, which will be fed into next term's teaching. On top of all this, we will be completing our Humans topic in Science and our Islam topic in RE, and creating Snow-globe Christmas cards for the PTA-organised fundraiser: more information will make it's way home by the end of the week.
