ASSESSMENT
At Amberley Parochial Primary, we use assessment as a tool for learning and regularly assess the children's understanding. This does not, however, meant that the children sit endless tests and exams. There will be times when summative assessment is appropriate, in order to demonstrate children's progress and attainment, however, teachers make assessments everyday, in order to devise the next steps for children in their learning.
In May, children in Year 2 and 6 take the National Curriculum Tests. They are used to record all children's attainment at the end of KS1 and KS2 in all primary schools in the country.
Children also complete the National Phonics Screening test at the end of Year 1, and the National Times Tables Check in Year 4.
