This week in Hereford Class

This week in Hereford Class we have been looking at Mental Health Awareness week and what it means to keep our minds healthy. We have spoken about strategies for when we are feeling sad and that it is always best to speak to someone who can help us to feel better. We were reminded about our worry box and that it is normal to feel worried about things and that we are surrounded by people who can help us overcome these.

In English we have finished writing our letters to Miss Holden. She was really impressed with our letters and how much we were arguing our points for not losing break time, PE, Outdoor Learning and school trips, as well as making the school day longer! Miss Holden was actually a little scared by some of the letters - the children were very cross and extremely passionate! We will move onto story next week, once we have edited our letters.

We continue with our time topic in maths where Y1 will be looking at clocks that show o'clock and half past whilst Y2 look at 5 minute intervals. We are then moving onto drawing the hands on clocks with given times, remembering the size of the hands when recording.

We have finish our Victorian Unit and we now move onto science where we will looking at animals. We will look at the different types of animals: amphibians, reptiles, mammals, fish and birds as well as classifying them according to their structure. We are also looking at things that are alive, dead and have never been alive.

In RE we continue with our Christianity unit and this week we will be looking at how Jesus teaches us to forgive and be sorry. We will be reflecting on our own lives and discussing times that we have had to show sorrow as well as forgiving when someone has done something to upset us.

Miss Holden will be sending out parents' evening slips this week to give all parents the day and the time in which you can expect your parents evening telephone call.
