This Week in Dexter Class
Welcome back! It is hard to believe that we have already reached the Summer Term! We do hope you all had a pleasant Easter and managed to relax over the break.
This week, we will be focusing on this term's Christian Value in our RE lesson and will be learning about the meaning of Justice. We will hear the linked Bible story of Jonah and the Whale, and will discuss what we mean when we talk about things being fair or unfair.
In maths, we will be looking at the make up of numbers beyond ten and will notice the patterns that are made in counting. We will continue to work on our ability to recall addition and subtraction facts and bonds for numbers to ten throughout this term, as this dramatically aids children's mathematical understanding and ability to work with number as they get older.
At the end of last term, we read 'Handa's Surprise' by Eileen Browne. We will be returning to this text this week, to learn more about the lives of different people in Kenya and about the climate, environment and wildlife there.
In our phonics lessons, we will be consolidating our work on Phase 4 and will be paying particular focus to the reading and writing of the tricky and high frequency words the children have been introduced to. You will soon receive a personalised book mark with the words that your child needs to practice reading and writing at home.
Please keep a look out for updates from Tapestry which will detail your child's learning. We are always pleased to see observations from home, so please feel free to add pictures and messages about learning at home too.
